What you'll do
- Own the design and delivery of production AI features, end to end, across Angular and NestJS / TypeScript / Python — TypeScript preferred.
- Architect RAG and agentic systems. Build the evaluation frameworks that prove they work, and tune them for cost, latency, and accuracy.
- Run services on AWS (Lambda, API Gateway) with Postgres, and access models via AWS Bedrock. Integrate tools and data via MCP, and own reliability and observability.
- Set engineering standards, review hard, and mentor junior engineers.
- Make sharp build-vs-buy calls and back them with evidence.
- Handle sensitive financial data responsibly — our product serves regulated lenders.
What you bring
- 5 to 8 years building production software, with at least 3 years in AI / ML.
- Hands-on experience with LangChain, LangGraph or similar frameworks.
- Hands-on production experience with MCP, Python, vector databases, or model-governance practices.
- Strong SQL and Postgres — you design schemas and queries that hold up under load.
- A track record shipping LLM-powered systems: RAG, prompting, evaluation, and agentic / tool-use patterns.
- Solid knowledge of AI Gateway / ACP / MCP / A2A and orchestration tools.
- Solid AWS, and a real grasp of how to keep production systems fast and reliable.
- The ability to design a framework from scratch following software design principles, and the judgment to know which design pattern applies.
- A habit of guiding junior AI engineers to the outcome, and grooming them.
- A working sense of the trade-off between cost, performance and quality.
- Judgment — you know which problems deserve a model, which deserve code, and which deserve neither.
Nice to have
- Deep TypeScript, with strong Angular and NestJS.
- Fintech or financial-services experience.
- Familiarity with data-privacy frameworks for financial data such as PIPEDA — our customers are Canadian lenders.
